Founded in 1971 as the National Archery Federation of Bhutan, we are the country’s oldest sports federation. With our transformation over time, we also became the youngest — officially mandated to develop Olympic-style archery only in 2010.
Bhutan's Olympic Archery Legacy
We’ve proudly represented Bhutan in every Summer Olympics since 1984, debuting in Los Angeles with six archers. Archery remained our sole Olympic sport until 2010, when shooting was introduced.
From Tradition to Olympic Excellence
Initially responsible for both traditional and Olympic archery, our federation refocused in 2010 to specialize in international-style archery. Traditional formats are now overseen by the Bhutan Indigenous Games and Sports Association.
Elite Archers for International Arenas
We support Bhutan’s national archery team through professional training, employment, and participation in global competitions like the Olympics and World Archery events.
Nurturing the Next Generation
Our pioneering grassroots initiative brings archery to schools across eastern Bhutan. With international-level coaching and locally-made equipment that meets global standards, we’re cultivating young talent for the future of Bhutanese archery.
